Pride in our Community – Improvements in your Area * Update: Castlefields Way, Aqueduct – EXTENDED DURATION *
During the second phase of this project and after removing the upper layers of the road, Telford & Wrekin Council have uncovered a number of areas with poor quality foundations. The foundations of the road are comprised of stone and clay and 3 areas need to be excavated and stabilised before we can relay the tarmac layers above. This specifically relates to the section of Castlefields Way between Willow Bank junction and Majestic Way junction shown on the map below. We were originally planning to reopen this section of road to traffic on Friday 1st September. The impact of this change is that this section of road needs to closed for a further week to allow foundation repairs to be completed. The closure will be in place 24hrs a day and at weekends due to the existing condition of this section of road. We anticipate that this section of road will be reopened in the afternoon of Friday 8th September. This delay will cause further network disruption and we apologise in advance for this disruption.
Access will be maintained to Majestic Way at either end but through traffic on Castlefields Way will still be diverted via Southall Road, Brookside Avenue and the A442.
