Co-option of Parish Councillor
Following the Local Elections on 5th May 2011 there were two vacancies for councillors at Great Dawley Parish Council. The Parish Council resolved at a meeting held on 19 May 2011 to advertise the two vacancies in the Dawley Ward. The Council selected Councillors at its meeting on 30 June.
On 24 August one of the Councillors for the Mainslee Ward resigned.
As dictated by the Borough Council’s Returning Officer a Notice was displayed on the 24 August inviting TEN ELECTORS for the parish ward in which the casual vacancy has arisen to request the Returning Officer to hold an election to fill the vacancy.
By the deadline of 14 September no requests had been received.
The Parish Council at its meeting on 29 September agreed that a Notice (with Application Form) is displayed from 3 October with a deadline for residents to apply by noon on Friday 28 October. This process is compliant with the Parish Council’s Co-Option Procedure and will allow the selection of a resident to fill the vacancy to occur at the scheduled meeting of the Council to be held on 24 November.
