Cathy was brought up in an industrial town on the outskirts of Manchester with a social history similar to that of Dawley. She moved to Telford in her teens, liked it so much she stayed and married a Shropshire lad.

Cathy qualified as a Nurse in 1993 at the Sister Dora School of Nursing in Burton upon Trent and worked as a staff nurse in a hospital in Manchester before returning to Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital, where she worked for 11 years.

After having her three children she became a school governor at the Captain Webb School in Dawley. She left nursing to become a Teaching assistant at the school studying at TCAT for a level 2 Teaching Assistant award. Cathy took up a Learning Mentor role helping both parents and children overcome any barriers to learning. While doing this job she passed a Level 3/4 induction training course. Her children have all attended the Captain Webb School and her eldest now attends the Phoenix Academy. Since leaving the Learning Mentor role she has worked in temporary staffing at the PRH.

Cathy has been a Town Councillor in Great Dawley for 4 years and enjoys the role greatly. In her spare time she likes walking, current affairs, wine and chocolate. She lives in Lawley Village with her husband, three children and two cats.
