Caring for Dawley Town Hall certainly runs in the family for the McIvers. Phil McIver and his Sister Lisa have been elected by the Friends of Dawley Town Hall group to help determine the future of the building bringing it back into the heart of the community
Phil McIver was elected by the friends of Dawley Town Hall group followed by Lisa who is the new vice chair for the position of Vice Chair.
Other nominations were made which saw the appointments of Secretary Carole Fitzpatrick and Catherine Lane, Treasurer David Griffiths and committee members Margaret Griffiths, Steve Millington, Paul Wolfe, Ron Munt, Paul Jones, Les Tait and Pete Jackson.
There are now over 40 Friends of Dawley Town Hall who have come together to not only elect a committee but also to draft the group’s constitution which will help them stride forward on their quest to preserve and restore the iconic Town Hall.
Councillor Frances Bould, ward member for Dawley Magna, said: “ I think it is
excellent that the Friends of Dawley Town Hall group has now been formally
established with two talented and energetic young people, Phil and Lisa
McIver as Chair and Vice Chair.
“The appointed committee is a really enthusiastic and committed team and I’m sure the Dawley Town Hall project will now achieve great things. The Friends of Dawley Town Hall have my full support.”
Those who have not registered and are interested in becoming a Friend of Dawley Town Hall can still attend the meeting which will provide residents with an opportunity to learn how they might be able to help bring the building back into the heart of the community.
