Telford and Wrekin Press Release Published on 23 March 2011
A brand new project is being launched by Telford & Wrekin Council that will enable local people to have their garden work done at a minimal cost.
Telford & Wrekin Inclusive Gardening Service (TWIGS) is available to anyone within the borough who wants general gardening tasks carried out.
The team of gardeners from Telford & Wrekin Council’s Skills Unit for Adults with Disabilities are available, by appointment, to provide basic garden maintenance including:
The charge is £10 per hour – No job is too small.
Cllr Jacqui Seymour, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Support, said:
“This is an excellent scheme for all concerned. It is offering a helping hand to local people as the spring and a garden tidy up or revamp approaches and it is also a key way of providing work experience, exercise, health promotion and learning to adults with disabilities.
“I would urge anyone to give this service a go. In particular it may benefit local older people who need a helping hand nowadays!”
